Greetings, everyone! It's been nearly a year since the last news post here from me, but I decided it was time to become more active here for a number of reasons. The BIG one at the moment is that the Wonder Boy series of games will be turning 40 next year on April 21st, 2026, which is a milestone anniversary. So, before sharing my request, I'd like to give you all a bit of context!

A Legendary Franchise Returns!

For those who have been out of the loop, the Wonder Boy IP was once (mostly) dormant for over two decades after the series conclusion in 1994 with the sixth and ex-final entry, Monster World IV. In 2014, the company that made the games, Westone went bankrupt unfortunately and the IP went to LAT. Series creator, Ryuichi Nishizawa fortunately has a friend at LAT who is a higher up that has made the creation of new titles easier. Sega also holds partial rights to the series with the "Monster World" name. However, the series revived in 2016 with "Wonder Boy Returns".

Since the revival, we've seen SEVEN separate releases (three remakes, two new games and two collections), making it one of the most active series to have been revived in recent memory. With Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World and Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection serving as 35th anniversary games, there is no doubt in my mind that a new entry is being worked on for the 40th anniversary next year and beyond.

In Masahiro Sakurai's "Year of Legend" video via his YouTube channel, he listed the Wonder Boy series as a legendary one and mentioned its strong appeal, but also mentioned a majority of the games discussed appear in Smash while others haven't yet. We hope this means it's possible for it to show up somehow in the next Super Smash Bros.! If so, it'll finally be part of an official crossover for the first time!

The 40th Anniversary Game?

From what I know, not only is the 40th anniversary of the series in 2026, but the 10th anniversary of the series revival and the 35th anniversary of Wonder Boy in Monster World (Monster World 3) is, too! The developers have also spoken about wanting to remake this entry in several interviews online and within the Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection art book. The time seems of the essence!

What Can We Do?

Earlier in this blog, it was mentioned that there was a request. I can imagine you are asking to yourself what it could be. Well, it's quite simple actually. All I request is that fans who are content creators to aid us and assist in helping Wonder Boy's community grow. Bring in new people by any means necessary so long as it doesn't offend or harm anyone.

Fan art as well as general content creation is one of the most powerful ways to do this as well as keeping open communication with members of its fandom. At the current point in time, I have a discord server that has been available for years now and Mr.Nishizawa is there with us! If you'd like to join, by all means do so. We also have a twitter where some key operations take place. We'll welcome you with open arms!

While I'm not the most experienced or detailed artist out there, I've been doing what I could anyway to assist Wonder Boy and its community for nearly 12 years now with the creation of fan art, fan games and other media such as interviews with officials. Greetings, everyone! Today, I wanted to pop in briefly to give you an update on what's currently going on with me. Long story short, I'll be primarily posting on Deviant Art since that's where I'm most active. Despite being there for 11 years, I didn't start drawing digitally and taking it seriously until 2021 when I figured out how powerful it was when it came to expression and marketing.

My primary mission since then has been to train myself to learn the ins and outs of digital artwork and art sites to be a Wonder Boy-focused artist that explored its worlds and characters far beyond anything seen before. Currently, it's going through a renaissance period and has had many entries since its revival in 2016, so it's honestly hard NOT to support it, especially given how it suffered a hiatus for over two decades.

In recent times, I finally began posting here on Newgrounds and I would like to continue to support it in the future with occasional posts, but I'm currently nearing 1k watchers on Deviant Art now (which is big for me personally) and in order to avoid stress, I'll be unfortunately giving other platforms a break. Perhaps, when a greater following has been gathered and my skills improve, I'll guide them to the others, too!

Greetings, everyone! I have great news! Monster World IV, the sixth entry in the iconic Wonder Boy series is celebrating its 30th anniversary on April 1st of 2024. In response, series creator, Ryuichi Nishizawa has agreed to have an interview where you, the fans submit the questions!

It features 20 questions, with only 7 of those being mandatory. The close date for this form is on April 1st, but we prefer if you answered before then so that we can gather the proper information for the interview.

Greetings! October has officially begun, which means it's time for a wave of content creation and uploads! In terms of posting, I'm still relatively new to the site and so far, I believe I've had a good time with it. Many artists have suggested branching out to other platforms, so it's good to be here and meeting some new faces here and there and seeing the content they have to share.

What Is The Mission?

For those who are new, while I am a multi-fandom artist, my primary focus is on Wonder Boy, a video game franchise that is currently in a renaissance period. Since its revival in 2016, it has released seven games total and based on what the series creator has claimed and shared with us, there is much more to come! The goal is to get as much content for it out as possible and bring fans new and old together across social media. It deserves all the support it can get, so I hope we can work together to make make some magic happen in the future.

Content Feature!

As of September 30th, I was met with a wonderful and unexpected surprise of having the "Asha Luvs U!" piece featured here and words cannot describe how grateful I am to have received such an honor. I also believe this is the first Wonder Boy piece to be featured in the site's history (someone correct me if I'm wrong), which gave me a huge motivation boost. Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day. Massive thank you to those who made this possible and voted/commented on it. It made my entire week!

Yo, everyone! Just popping in shortly to let you all know that I'll be uploading a wave of content from both 2022 and 2023 soon. Much of that still holds up rather well, so it'll be nice to port a lot of that stuff over. Honestly, I should have done this a long time ago, but didn't pay much attention to other platforms until doing research on how important it is to not put all of your eggs in one place, this case being deviant art.

But, that is where I have the most activity and largest following, so I suppose it makes sense that I'd want to primarily focus on it (and still do btw). Hopefully, ya'll will enjoy the media that gets uploaded as it's quite a lot and many of you who are new likely missed out on it. Do look forward to it!

Greetings! This is a post that was honestly long overdue. I've been posting art mostly, but I believe a brief and proper introduction is in order. I am XBuster, but you can call me X for short. I am a general content creator who does a variety of things from artwork to game dev. My primary focus as one is to serve as a bridge to connect fans of the Wonder Boy game series in as many ways as possible and introduce it to new people, too.

I run the current largest Wonder Boy-focused account on twitter and discord that brings together content and creators on the official and unofficial sides, including the creator of the franchise, Ryuichi Nishizawa. He also entrusted me and members of the community to unite everyone, which grants us a representative or ambassador status to a degree.The franchise is in a renaissance as we speak and there's more media to come, so the more help we have, the better!
